Information

Description

Description

A species from the Andean cloud forests of South America, producing upright, multi-flowered spikes with showy blooms. The flowers feature broad, ruffled sepals and petals with a large, spreading lip, giving each flower a bold, layered structure.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid direct sun exposure, which can cause leaf burn.
  • Temperature: 54–72°F (12–22°C); an intermediate-cool grower that benefits from cooler nights to encourage blooming.
  • Humidity: 60–80%; maintain good air movement around the plant to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged root saturation.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a well-draining bark-based mix in a slatted basket or clay pot to promote airflow around the roots. Shipped bare root, well established, and ready to adapt to your growing conditions.
