Description

Description

An epiphytic species native to the cloud forests of Ecuador, bearing solitary flowers on slender, erect peduncles with a hooded dorsal sepal curving forward, elongated and acutely pointed lateral sepals projecting outward and downward, short forward-curving lateral petals, and a small lip nestled within. Its highly asymmetric, almost avian floral architecture gives it a uniquely expressive character among cool-growing orchids.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can stress the foliage in cool conditions.
  • Temperature: 50–68°F (10–20°C); thrives as a cool grower and requires consistently cool temperatures to perform well.
  • Humidity: 70–90%; high humidity is essential for healthy root development and consistent blooming.
  • Watering: Keep the mix evenly moist; avoid prolonged dryness, as cool growers are sensitive to dehydration at the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork or in a small pot with a fine, well-draining bark mix in a cool, well-ventilated environment. Plants are shipped bare root, well established, and ready to adapt to your growing conditions.
