Information

Description

Description

A refined miniature species from the Andean cloud forests of South America, producing flowers directly on the leaf surface (epiphyllous inflorescences) of its large, glossy, finely iridescent leaves. The bloom displays three sharply acuminate, translucent sepals with finely ciliate margins forming a clean geometric star, with a bold dark labellum and outswept petals at the center.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun to preserve the iridescent leaf surface.
  • Temperature: 52–70°F (11–21°C); a cool to intermediate grower with a minimum tolerance around 46°F (8°C).
  • Humidity: 80–90%; maintain consistently high humidity with good air circulation to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Keep roots evenly moist at all times; water frequently and avoid any prolonged dry periods.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a small pot with fine sphagnum moss or mounted to display its ornamental foliage and epiphyllous blooms. An excellent choice for a well-ventilated terrarium. Ships bare root, well-established.
