Description

Description

A pendant epiphyte from the tropical forests of Central America, forming dramatic cascades of long, rigid, terete-like leaves hanging vertically from the mount. Solitary flowers emerge along the stem, displaying extremely elongated, acuminate yellow-green sepals and petals alongside a large, prominent bilobed lip with a smooth, open texture. Blooms release an intense nocturnal fragrance, making this species one of the most rewarding in any collection.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun to prevent stress on the pendant foliage.
  • Temperature: 54–75°F (12–24°C); an intermediate grower that benefits from moderate temperature fluctuations between day and night.
  • Humidity: 70–85%; good air movement around the pendant roots and stems is essential for healthy growth.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the medium to approach dryness between waterings; the pendant habit makes mounting on cork or tree fern ideal to prevent root rot.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork or tree fern to accommodate its naturally pendant habit and allow the long leaves to cascade freely. Plants are shipped bare root and well established, ready to settle into their new growing environment.
