Information

Description

Description

A reed-stem epiphyte endemic to the cloud forests of Ecuador, bearing solitary, large spider-like flowers on upright stems with broad, oval, leathery leaves. The bloom displays an extraordinarily elongated, erect dorsal sepal, very long pendant lateral sepals, narrow reflexed petals, and a three-lobed white lip with spreading lateral lobes and a prominent yellow callus at its center.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun to prevent stress on the broad, leathery foliage.
  • Temperature: 54–75°F (12–24°C); an intermediate grower that adapts well to stable conditions with moderate night temperature drops.
  • Humidity: 65–85%; good air movement around the roots and stems helps prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the medium to approach dryness between waterings; avoid standing water at the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a well-draining bark-based mix. Plants are shipped bare root and well established, ready to settle into their new growing environment.
