Information

Description

Description

A slender reed-stem orchid native to the forests of Ecuador, producing lax, pendant racemes with widely spaced, delicate flowers bearing very narrow, elongated sepals that curve gracefully downward and a small trilobed lip. The open, airy floral structure gives the inflorescence an ethereal, star-like quality that is distinctive among Epidendrum species.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–60% shade cloth; avoid harsh direct sun, which can stress the slender foliage.
  • Temperature: 59–79°F (15–26°C); an intermediate-warm grower that thrives with warm days and mild nights.
  • Humidity: 70–85%; consistent humidity supports healthy stem development and reliable flowering.
  • Watering: Water regularly and allow the substrate to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the roots.

Additional Notes

A species native to the forests of Ecuador, best grown mounted on cork or in a small pot with a fine, well-draining bark mix. The pendant inflorescences display best when the plant is grown in an elevated or hanging position. Ships bare root, well-established.
