Description

Description

A striking species from the cloud forests of South America, producing multiple flowers simultaneously on slender, upright scapes from the base of each pseudobulb. The blooms feature narrow, strongly recurved tepals in vivid yellow heavily mottled with dark brown spotting, and a small, curved lip — giving the flower a dynamic, spider-like silhouette that is instantly eye-catching.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can scorch the broad, arching foliage.
  • Temperature: 54–75°F (12–24°C); an intermediate grower that adapts well to stable indoor conditions with good air movement.
  • Humidity: 60–80%; consistent humidity with good airflow is important for healthy root development.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to partially dry between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the root zone.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a well-draining bark-based mix in a medium pot. A rewarding and floriferous species that blooms freely and makes a bold statement in any collection. Shipped bare root in well-established condition.
