Description

Description

This cool-growing epiphyte, originates from the Himalayas, India, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam, thriving in broad-leaved forests at elevations of 1100 to 1200 meters. It has small, conical pseudobulbs with a single apical leaf.

  • Light: Provide bright, indirect light. East or west-facing exposure is ideal, avoiding direct midday sun to prevent leaf scorching.
  • Temperature: As a cool-growing orchid, maintain temperatures between 58-80°F (14-27°C). Cooler night temperatures are crucial for promoting healthy growth and flowering.
  • Humidity: High humidity is required, ideally between 60% and 80%. Ensure constant and excellent air circulation to prevent disease in these high-humidity conditions.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly just before the potting medium becomes fully dry. It requires consistent moisture, especially during its active growing season.

Additional Notes

The inflorescence, arising from the pseudobulb base, is dense with many small, roughly 1/4 inch (6 mm) flowers. Key distinguishing features are small, forward-pointing stelidia on the column and a uniquely broad, "U"-shaped labellum.
