Stelis kefersteiniana 'Ecuagenera'

A miniature orchid species from the Andean cloud forests, producing slender scapes with successive tiny flowers featuring an ovate dorsal sepal densely fringed with white cilia and a contrasting near-black labellum. The intricate floral detail is best appreciated up close, making it a rewarding species for miniature orchid enthusiasts.

• Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which stresses the compact, thin-leaved growth.
• Temperature: 55–72°F (13–22°C); a cool to intermediate grower that benefits from a slight drop in nighttime temperature to stimulate blooming.
• Humidity: 70–90%; high humidity is essential — this species thrives in consistently moist, cloud forest-like conditions.
• Watering: Water frequently to keep the fine root system evenly moist; never allow to dry out completely, as miniature Stelis are sensitive to desiccation.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork or tree fern, or in a small pot with fine bark or sphagnum moss to maintain moisture. The 'Ecuagenera' clone has been selected and grown at our nursery in Ecuador. Plants are shipped bare root and well-established.
