Cleistocactus colademononis

A columnar cactus from the dry valleys of South America, producing slender, cylindrical stems densely covered in fine, hair-like spines that give the plant a soft, silky texture. The stems branch from the base and arch naturally as they elongate, creating a sculptural, cascading silhouette that makes this species as ornamental as it is unusual.

• Light: Full sun to bright indirect light; at least 4–6 hours of direct sun per day encourages compact growth and eventual flowering.
• Temperature: 50–95°F (10–35°C); a warm to hot grower that tolerates brief cool periods but must be protected from frost.
• Humidity: Low; thrives in dry conditions and is highly sensitive to excess moisture around the stems and roots.
• Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the substrate to dry completely between waterings; reduce watering significantly in winter to prevent rot.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a very well-draining cactus mix with added perlite or coarse grit. Ideal for hanging baskets or elevated positions where the arching stems can develop freely. Shipped as a well-established plant, ready to pot upon arrival.
