Description

A striking tropical plant from the Ericaceae family, native to Ecuador's cloud forests. This species features tubular flowers and attractive foliage, making it an exceptional addition for collectors of rare Andean flora and tropical plant enthusiasts.

  • Light: Bright indirect light to partial shade. Thrives under 40-60% shade cloth or in dappled sunlight similar to cloud forest conditions.
  • Temperature: Cool to intermediate. Daytime 64-77°F (18-25°C), nighttime 54-64°F (12-18°C). Prefers consistent moderate temperatures with slight day-night variation.
  • Humidity: 60-80% with good air circulation. Moderate to high humidity is beneficial; ensure adequate ventilation to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Keep evenly moist during active growth. Water when the top layer of substrate begins to dry. Reduce watering slightly during cooler months but never allow to completely dry out.

Additional Notes:

This member of the Ericaceae family (related to blueberries and rhododendrons) produces distinctive tubular flowers. Best grown in well-draining, acidic substrate with good organic content. Can be cultivated in pots or hanging baskets to accommodate its growth habit.
