Description

Description

A bold architectural aroid celebrated for its dramatically oversized, velvety leaves with deeply impressed venation — offered here as a seedling, an ideal entry point for collectors seeking to grow this impressive species from the ground up.

  • Light: Thrives under 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun exposure, which can scorch and permanently damage the large leaf surface.
  • Temperature: Intermediate to warm grower. Daytime 68–82°F (20–28°C), nighttime lows of 60–65°F (15–18°C); a moderate day-night differential encourages steady development.
  • Humidity: Prefers 70–85% relative humidity; humidity trays or a humidifier work well, paired with good air circulation to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Keep the substrate evenly moist but never waterlogged; reduce slightly during cooler periods and ensure excellent drainage at all times.
  • Maintenance: Being baby plants, seedlings require less water and fertilizer than mature specimens. Repot periodically, moving up only one pot size at a time as the root system develops.

Additional Notes

Native to Colombia, Ecuador, and Panama in humid tropical forests at lower to mid elevations. Best grown in a chunky aroid mix of orchid bark, perlite, and sphagnum moss to accommodate its epiphytic to terrestrial habit.
