Description

Angraecum Shooting Star (Primary Hybrid)

Is a cross between Angraecum florulentum and Angraecum eburneum subsp. xerophilum

Culture

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some direct morning sun but should be protected from harsh midday or afternoon sun to prevent leaf burn.
  • Temperature: Thrives in intermediate to warm temperatures. Ideal daytime temperatures range between 21-29°C (70-85°F), with cooler nighttime temperatures around 13-22°C (55-72°F)
  • Humidity: Requires high humidity, ideally between 50-70%. Good air circulation is vital to prevent fungal issues, especially in humid conditions.
  • Watering: This orchid is a monopodial epiphyte and prefers a quick wet-dry cycle. Water thoroughly when the potting medium approaches dryness, but do not allow it to stay bone dry for prolonged periods.

Additional Notes

  • Floral Characteristics: Angraecum Shooting Star produces pristine white, star-shaped flowers with a prominent spur, often longer than either parent's. The flowers are typically waxy and long-lasting. Many Angraecums are fragrant at night, and this hybrid is likely to inherit that delightful trait.
