Oncidium
A gyakran „Táncoló lány orchideának” nevezett Oncidium egy vibráló és pompás nemzetség, amely az apró, bonyolult felépítésű virágokból álló bőséges virágfürtjeiről ismert, melyek telt, lebegő szoknyás táncosnőkre emlékeztetnek. Latin-Amerika számos élőhelyén őshonosak, a trópusi esőerdőktől a magaslati köderdőkig. Ezek az orchideák jellemzően magas, elágazó virágzatot növesztenek, amelyeket sűrűn borítanak a sárga, bronz, vörös, rózsaszín és fehér káprázatos árnyalataiban pompázó virágok, gyakran kontrasztos foltokkal vagy mintákkal díszítve. Jellegzetes mézajkuk általában nagy és fodros, ami tovább fokozza élénk, dinamikus megjelenésüket. Számos faj és hibrid emellett kellemesen illatos, édes, néha fűszeres aromával töltve meg a levegőt.
