Information

Syngonium podophyllum 'Three Kings'

A cultivar of Syngonium podophyllum with sagittate leaves featuring a deep basal sinus, strongly undulate margins, and an exceptionally high-coverage sectoral variegation that extends across most of the lamina surface. Short, sturdy petioles hold the leaves in a dense, overlapping rosette that creates a bold, full display even at compact sizes.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; adequate brightness is essential to maintain the high-contrast variegation pattern without bleaching the heavily variegated sectors.
  • Temperature: 65–90°F (18–32°C); thrives as a warm grower with consistently high temperatures and protection from cold drafts below 60°F (15°C).
  • Humidity: 60–80%; high humidity supports vigorous new leaf production and helps the variegated tissue develop fully without tip browning.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly when the top inch of substrate dries; avoid waterlogging, as the roots are sensitive to prolonged saturation.
  • Growth Habit: Compact, self-heading aroid that produces a dense rosette of heavily variegated, sagittate leaves on short petioles. The 'Three Kings' cultivar is notable for its unusually high variegation coverage, with each leaf displaying a distinct and unpredictable pattern that makes every specimen unique.
