Pilea platinum

A compact, branching Pilea with lanceolate-elliptic leaves featuring sharply serrated margins, a deeply bullate and rugose lamina, and strongly impressed pinnate venation. The leaf surface has a distinctive metallic sheen that catches light from every angle, giving the plant a refined, jewel-like presence.

• Light: Bright indirect light with 30–50% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can dull the metallic surface texture and scorch the serrated leaf margins.
• Temperature: 65–82°F (18–28°C); thrives as a warm to intermediate grower with stable conditions and no cold drafts.
• Humidity: 50–70%; moderate to high humidity supports vigorous branching and preserves the bullate leaf texture.
• Watering: Water thoroughly when the top inch of substrate dries; avoid waterlogging, as Pilea roots are sensitive to prolonged saturation.
• Growth Habit: Upright, freely branching shrub that develops a dense, bushy form over time. The 'Platinum' selection produces a continuous flush of textured, metallic-sheened foliage along reddish stems, making it an eye-catching accent plant at any size.
