Information

Description

Description

A select form of one of the most celebrated slipper orchids, native to the cloud forests of Ecuador and Peru. It produces vivid, long-lasting flowers on an upright stem above a compact rosette of strap-like leaves, with a notably vigorous and floriferous habit.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–60% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can scorch the soft foliage.
  • Temperature: 55–75°F (13–24°C). Intermediate to cool grower; cool nights help trigger and sustain blooming.
  • Humidity: 60–80%; keep humidity high and air movement steady to prevent fungal issues at the crown.
  • Watering: Keep the mix consistently moist but never waterlogged; never allow the roots to dry out completely. Use soft or filtered water.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a fine mix of perlite, sand, and sphagnum moss or fine bark. Plastic pots help retain moisture. Ships bare root, well-established (12–18cm). Grown at Ecuagenera, Ecuador. First described by Dodson & Kuhn, 1981.
