Description

Description

One of the most ornate species in the genus, native to the cloud forests of Ecuador. The large, broadly spreading sepals and petals are densely spotted with undulate, frilled margins, framing a trilobed lip with ruffled lateral lobes and a broad central lobe bearing intricate purple striations on a white ground.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–60% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can scorch the broad foliage.
  • Temperature: 50–72°F (10–22°C); an intermediate to cool grower that benefits from distinct day-to-night temperature differentials.
  • Humidity: 65–80%; good air circulation is essential to keep the foliage healthy at cooler temperatures.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to approach dryness between waterings; reduce frequency during cooler months.

Additional Notes

A collector’s species prized for its extraordinary floral complexity. Best grown in a medium bark mix with excellent drainage. Ships bare root, well established, and ready to acclimate to your growing conditions.
