Masdevallia veitchiana Culture
Cultivating the enchanting Masdevallia veitchiana successfully requires understanding its specific needs. Here are some key cultural tips to ensure its thriving growth:
Light: Masdevallia veitchiana prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch its delicate leaves. Filtered light, such as that provided by a sheer curtain, is ideal.
Temperature: Mimic its cool, cloud forest habitat by providing daytime temperatures between 15-20°C (59-68°F) and cooler nights around 10-15°C (50-59°F).
Humidity: High humidity is crucial for Masdevallia veitchiana. Aim for levels between 70-80% and consider using humidifiers, pebble trays, or misting to achieve this.
Watering: Keep the substrate consistently moist, but avoid waterlogging. Frequent, but moderate, watering is essential. Ensure excellent drainage to prevent root rot.
Habitat: These orchids are typically found on steep, rocky slopes covered with grasses and shrubs. They may grow terrestrially, lithophytically (on rocks), or occasionally epiphytically (on other plants)
Beautiful plant! Could easily be two or three divisions. Will make a great specimen! Arrived timely and in good health.
Healthy plant in very good condition, strong roots. Wonderful packaging.
I think it took about two weeks from ordering which isn't long at all given they don't ship every day. The roots were so packed and the leaves were mostly perfect. We'll see how it does, but glad I finally obtained my wishlist masdevallia.
Thank you for this beautiful plant and the price is so right! It only took two weeks to get to me! Really happy 😃! Great condition.
The plant arrived healthy, albeit a little stressed. It bounced back quickly. No leaf loss but no new growth either. In a greenhouse with temperatures between 60F and 80F. Well packed!
