Masdevallia falcago (Big)

A miniature species native to the cloud Andean forests, offered here in a well-established big size. It forms dense, compact clumps of narrow, linear leaves and produces an impressive mass of small flowers with fused sepals tapering into slender, elongated tails, borne directly among the foliage.

• Light: Bright indirect light with 60–70% shade cloth; avoid any direct sun exposure, which can rapidly damage the delicate foliage.
• Temperature: 45–65°F (7–18°C); a cool grower that requires consistently low temperatures and excellent air movement to thrive.
• Humidity: 75–90%; very high humidity is essential for this cool-growing species to maintain healthy growth and flowering.
• Watering: Keep the substrate evenly and consistently moist; Masdevallias lack pseudobulbs and are highly sensitive to drying out.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a small pot with fine bark or sphagnum moss to retain moisture while ensuring good drainage and airflow around the roots. Plants are shipped bare root and well established; pot promptly upon arrival and water thoroughly to rehydrate the roots.
