Description

Description

A jewel among cool-growing miniatures, bearing successive, intricately structured flowers along slender rachises that emerge directly from the leaf margins — the extraordinary floral complexity that makes this species a cornerstone of any serious pleurothallid collection.

  • Light: Low to moderate indirect light under 60–70% shade cloth; direct sun is harmful and should be avoided at all times.
  • Temperature: Cool grower. Daytime 55–65°F (13–18°C), nighttime lows of 46–52°F (8–11°C); stable cool conditions are essential for long-term health.
  • Humidity: Requires very high humidity of 80–90%; terrarium or enclosed cabinet culture is strongly recommended, with gentle air movement to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Maintain constant moisture around the fine root system; Lepanthes species cannot tolerate drying out and decline rapidly if moisture is interrupted.

Additional Notes

This species is native to the high-elevation cloud forests between 2,000–3,000 meters. Best grown mounted on cork bark or tree fern with live sphagnum moss to sustain the uninterrupted moisture its roots require.
