Information

Description

Description

This outstanding species is the result of crossing two select color forms of the highly prized Brazilian species, Laelia purpurata (also classified as C. purpurata). This specific clone from Ecuagenera is a popular choice among enthusiasts for its reliable growth and striking, large blooms.

  • Light: Requires bright, filtered light. Avoid direct, harsh midday sun, which can scorch the foliage. Proper light is crucial for strong growth and flowering.
  • Temperature: Thrives in intermediate to warm conditions. Maintain daytime temperatures between (), with a slight drop at night to stimulate flowering.
  • Humidity: Moderate to high humidity is preferred, around 50-70%. Ensure excellent air movement to prevent issues and maintain healthy root systems.
  • Watering: Water regularly during the active growing season, allowing the growing medium to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering frequency during the cooler, darker winter months.

Additional Notes

This orchid produces large, showy blooms with the elegant, classic shape of the Laelia purpurata species. The flowers are notable for their intense, dark lip coloration and dramatic presentation, making them a beautiful addition to any collection.

The plant is a vigorous grower, capable of reaching a mature size of about 17.7" (45cm) in height.
