Hoya excavata

An epiphytic vining species from the tropical forests of Southeast Asia with broad, oval-rounded, semi-succulent leaves featuring a slightly bullate surface texture. Its slender, twining stems extend readily along supports, making it well suited for hoops, trellises, or hanging baskets.

• Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the fleshy leaves.
• Temperature: 60–82°F (16–28°C); thrives as a warm to intermediate grower with stable, frost-free conditions.
• Humidity: 50–70%; moderate to high humidity supports vigorous stem extension and healthy leaf development.
• Watering: Water thoroughly, then allow the substrate to dry out significantly between waterings; avoid waterlogging, which causes root rot.
• Growth Habit: Twining epiphytic vine with broad, semi-succulent, bullate-textured leaves on slender stems. Develops persistent peduncles on mature growth — never remove them, as they rebloom season after season.

Best grown in a fast-draining mix of orchid bark and perlite. Shipped bare root, well-established.
