Description

Description

A delicate, freely branching orchid from the cloud forests of South America, producing long, arching branches with a distinctive pigmented rachis and numerous tiny, well-spaced flowers along secondary branchlets. Each flower bears small ovate sepals, narrow petals, and a miniature trilobed lip with fine filamentous projections — the airy, heather-like branching habit gives the plant an unusually graceful, botanical character.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–60% shade cloth; avoid direct midday sun, which can stress the delicate branching stems.
  • Temperature: 50–68°F (10–20°C); a cool grower that requires the cold nights characteristic of high Andean cloud forests to thrive and bloom reliably.
  • Humidity: 75–85%; high humidity is essential to support the fine, freely branching growth habit.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the substrate to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork or in a small pot with a fine, well-draining bark mix, where the arching, heather-like branches can develop freely. A rare and botanically distinctive species for specialist collectors. Ships bare root, well-established.
