Dendrobium spectabile

Dendrobium spectabile is one of the most extraordinary orchids in cultivation, famous for its large flowers with dramatically twisted and curled segments. Greenish yellow, cream, brown, and purple markings combine in an intricate, almost otherworldly pattern, giving every bloom the look of living sculpture.

Care Guide

• Light: Provide bright, filtered light, with gentle morning sun if available. Strong light supports sturdy cane growth and flowering.
• Water: Water generously while new canes and roots are developing, allowing the medium to become lightly dry between waterings. Reduce watering slightly when growth slows, but avoid a prolonged dry rest.
• Humidity: Maintain moderate to high humidity with excellent air circulation.
• Temperature: Grow in warm to intermediate conditions and protect from cold temperatures.
• Growing medium: Use a coarse, fast-draining orchid mix in a stable pot that can support the tall canes. Repot when new roots begin to emerge.

With warmth, bright light, and consistent moisture during active growth, Dendrobium spectabile can become a commanding specimen crowned with some of the orchid world's most bizarre and unforgettable flowers.
