Information

Coryanthes bergoldii

Coryanthes bergoldii is a remarkable bucket orchid known for its highly sculptural flowers and pendulous blooming habit. The intricate blooms look almost engineered, making this vigorous epiphyte a true conversation piece for collectors who enjoy orchids with unusual forms and fascinating pollination adaptations.

Care Guide

  • Light: Provide bright, filtered light while protecting the leaves from intense midday sun.
  • Water: Water generously during active growth. Keep the growing medium evenly moist but well aerated, allowing excess water to drain freely.
  • Humidity: Maintain high humidity with strong, consistent air circulation to support healthy roots and foliage.
  • Temperature: Grow in warm conditions and avoid prolonged exposure to cool temperatures.
  • Growing medium: Use an open basket with a moisture-retentive yet airy orchid mix. The basket format allows its flower spikes to emerge and hang naturally.

Bold, complex, and unlike a conventional orchid, Coryanthes bergoldii rewards attentive growers with one of the orchid family’s most extraordinary floral displays.
