Description

A hybrid of Anth. regale light × Anth. nigrolaminum 'Gigi', two species from the Andean cloud forests of South America. It produces broadly cordiform leaves with widely divergent open basal lobes forming a striking butterfly silhouette, fine palmate venation from the base, and a deep, near-black velvety surface with a subtle bluish iridescence — a direct expression of nigrolaminum’s dramatic dark character.

  • Light: Bright filtered light with up to 60–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can fade the deep velvety surface and iridescent finish.
  • Temperature: 59–77°F (15–25°C); an intermediate grower that thrives with stable temperatures, good airflow, and no cold drafts.
  • Humidity: 70–85%; high humidity is essential to preserve the characteristic velvety texture and the subtle bluish iridescence.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly when the top layer of substrate begins to dry; avoid waterlogging while ensuring roots do not dry out completely.

Hybrid Advantage: Hybridization often strengthens plant genetics, producing plants with greater vigor, adaptability, and ornamental qualities — making them excellent additions to tropical plant collections.
