Information

Anthurium Coral Mariposa

A hybrid of Anth. corallinum 'Gigi' × Anth. papillilaminum, two large-leaved species from the cloud forests of South America. It develops broad, deeply cordate leaves with a slightly bullate surface, prominent pinnate venation, and rounded basal lobes on distinctly reddish petioles.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with up to 70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can bleach and damage the leaf surface.
  • Temperature: 60–75°F (15–24°C); an intermediate-warm grower that thrives with stable temperatures and no cold drafts.
  • Humidity: 70–90%; sustained high humidity promotes vigorous leaf expansion and enhances the bullate leaf texture.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the top layer to approach dryness before the next watering; avoid prolonged waterlogging or complete desiccation.
  • Growth Habit: Upright and vigorous, combining the broad cordate form and reddish petioles of Anth. corallinum 'Gigi' with the large, bullate leaf architecture of Anth. papillilaminum, producing a bold and fast-growing collector’s aroid.

Additional Notes

Arrival & Establishment Recommendation: Upon arrival, plant promptly in a well-draining aroid mix (chunky bark, perlite, and sphagnum). Water thoroughly to rehydrate the roots and place in a warm, humid spot away from direct airflow while the plant acclimates.
