Anthurium angamarcanum Culture

Successful cultivation of the unique Anthurium angamarcanum 1 requires attention to its natural habitat conditions. Here are some essential cultural tips to ensure its thriving growth:

  • Light: Anthurium angamarcanum 1 prefers bright, indirect light. It thrives in filtered sunlight, similar to the dappled light of its native tropical forest understory. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.
  • Temperature: This plant enjoys warm to intermediate temperatures. Ideal daytime temperatures range between 20-28°C (68-82°F), with nighttime temperatures around 18-22°C (64-72°F). Protect it from temperatures below 15°C (59°F), as it is sensitive to cold.
  • Humidity: High humidity is crucial for Anthurium angamarcanum, ideally between 60-80%. Use a humidifier, place the plant on a humidity tray, or grow it in a terrarium or enclosed environment to maintain adequate moisture levels.
  • Watering: Water regularly, keeping the substrate evenly moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top layer of the substrate to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering during the winter months when growth slows.

Additional Notes:

  • Anthurium angamarcanum 1 is a terrestrial or epiphytic plant, often found growing on the forest floor or on trees in its native habitat. It has a compact growth habit with leaves emerging from a central rosette.

  • Maintenance: Remove dead leaves and spent flower stems to keep the plant healthy and tidy. Wipe the leaves occasionally to remove dust and maintain their appearance.

Plant arrived looking gorgeous, but it may not be a species that ships well. After a couple of weeks, the leaves shriveled up and everything died back to a stump. Rooted a bit slower than all my other anthuriums but it's a gorgeous plant and it arrived with three big, beautiful leaves.

Plant arrived in good condition. Import roots were healthy. Specimen I received came with 2 leaves. Adaxials of the leaf are beautiful and velvety and have a finish very similar to a metallicum. Would totally recommend adding this plant to your collection.
