Adelonema picturatum Culture

  • Light: Adelonema picturatum prefers low to medium indirect light. It thrives in shaded environments, similar to the understory of tropical forests. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.
  • Temperature: This plant enjoys warm to intermediate temperatures. Ideal daytime temperatures range between 20-28°C (68-82°F), with nighttime temperatures around 18-22°C (64-72°F). Avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature drops.
  • Humidity: High humidity is crucial for Adelonema picturatum, ideally between 70-90%. Use a humidifier, place the plant on a humidity tray, or grow it in a terrarium to maintain adequate moisture levels.
  • Watering: Water regularly, keeping the substrate evenly moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top layer of the substrate to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering frequency during the winter months when growth slows.

I ordered about a dozen of plants and I couldn't believe my eyes - they all arrived super fresh, with big developed leaves and healthy root systems. As if shipping never happened. Each plant was carefully wrapped to preserve moisture and prevent rot. This adelonema has several leaves, is of big size and looks very pretty. The leaves are velvety and have soft suede texture on the undersides. So far, I noticed this plant needs a lot of humidity in the roots area.

The plant came in good condition. Leaf damage was insignificant on one old leaf. I am very pleased that the plant is already starting to move around its leaves; so I assume it will acclimate very well in my home :)
