Description

This hybrid combines Onc. kegeljani and Cyr. macranthum to produce impressive cascading inflorescences with vibrant, substantial flowers that showcase the best qualities of both parents.

  • Light: Bright indirect light, equivalent to 50-70% shade cloth. East or west-facing windows work well indoors. Avoid direct midday sun.
  • Temperature: Daytime 70-80°F (21-27°C), nighttime 55-65°F (13-18°C). A 10-15°F drop between day and night promotes flowering.
  • Humidity: 50-70% with good air circulation to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly when medium approaches dryness, typically every 5-7 days. Reduce frequency slightly in winter. Ensure excellent drainage.

Additional Notes

Named after Tom Mirenda, former orchid collections manager at the Smithsonian Institution. Onc. kegeljani contributes compact, floriferous growth while Cyr. macranthum adds larger flowers with rich coloring. This cross produces manageable plants with generous floral displays on multiple arching sprays.
