Information

Description

Description

A distinctive species from the cloud forests of Ecuador, bearing solitary flowers on slender, upright scapes above a fan of multiple narrow leaves. The bloom is tulip-shaped with broad, concave tepals heavily veined in deep contrasting lines, and a small, partially concealed lip with a rich, dark callus.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–60% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can scorch the multi-leaved fans.
  • Temperature: 57–79°F (14–26°C); an intermediate-warm grower that adapts well to stable indoor conditions.
  • Humidity: 65–80%; consistent humidity with good airflow is essential for healthy root and leaf development.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to partially dry between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the root zone.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a well-draining bark-based mix in a small to medium pot. Its multi-leaved, fan-like habit makes it an attractive specimen even out of bloom. Shipped bare root in well-established condition.
