Description

Description

A fascinating miniature orchid from Andean cloud forests, notable for its strikingly globose, nearly closed blooms. The tightly fused sepals form a smooth, inflated, rounded structure with a gently curving apical tail and two short lateral tails — a bold and sculptural flower that makes an immediate impression despite its small size.

  • Light: Low to moderate light; 70–80% shade cloth. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the foliage.
  • Temperature: 57–72°F (14–22°C); intermediate grower. Benefits from moderate temperature fluctuation between day and night.
  • Humidity: 70–90%. High humidity is key; always pair with good air movement to prevent fungal rot.
  • Watering: Keep roots evenly moist at all times. Water more frequently in warm months, slightly less in winter. Never allow to dry out completely.

Additional Notes

Best grown in fine bark or sphagnum moss in small net or plastic pots. Well suited for intermediate indoor or greenhouse setups. Offered by Ecuagenera, Ecuador, as a well-established bare-root plant.
