Description

Description

A stunning miniature epiphyte native to the cloud forests of Ecuador, prized above all for its large lanceolate leaves with an intensely iridescent dark purple papillose texture. Tiny flowers are produced in succession directly on the leaf rachis, featuring connate ciliate sepals, distinctively horned bilobed petals with acuminate lobes, and a prominent globose red labellum.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 60–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can damage the ornamental foliage.
  • Temperature: 50–68°F (10–20°C); a cool grower that thrives with cool nights and consistent air movement.
  • Humidity: 75–90%; maintain high ambient humidity with strong airflow to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Keep evenly moist at all times; water frequently in small amounts and never allow the roots to dry out completely.

Additional Notes

Best mounted on cork or tree fern, or potted in a fine, well-draining mix (sphagnum moss or fine bark). Ships bare root, well-established.
