Description

Description

A dramatic species from the cloud forests of Ecuador, producing large flowers on tall, slender scapes that arch gracefully above the foliage. The blooms feature extraordinarily long, tapering sepals that droop elegantly, framing a compact, hooded lip — giving the flower a striking, sculptural presence.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–60% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can scorch the broad, strap-like leaves.
  • Temperature: 54–75°F (12–24°C); an intermediate grower that benefits from cooler nights to stimulate blooming.
  • Humidity: 65–80%; consistent humidity with good airflow is essential for healthy root development.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to partially dry between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the root zone.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a well-draining bark-based mix in a medium to large pot. A collector's species prized for its impressive flower size and elegant form. Shipped bare root in well-established condition.
