Information

Aliceara Tahoma Glacier

Aliceara Tahoma Glacier

Aliceara Tahoma Glacier is a stunning complex intergeneric hybrid orchid — the result of crossing Bratonia Cartagena with Oncidium Alaskan Sunset. A member of the Orchidaceae family and an intermediate-growing hybrid, it is celebrated for its large, elegant star-shaped flowers — typically white with irregular pink, red, or purplish markings — carried on long, arching stems bearing multiple blooms simultaneously. A possible spicy fragrance adds yet another dimension to this already spectacular hybrid, making it a prized addition to any orchid collection.

Care Guide

  • Light: Bright, indirect light; filtered sunlight is ideal — avoid direct sun which can scorch the leaves
  • Temperature: Intermediate; daytime temperatures up to 32°C (90°F), with a minimum night temperature of 13°C (55°F)
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the potting mix to dry slightly between waterings; consistent moisture is essential but avoid waterlogging; a well-draining mix is key
  • Humidity: High humidity essential, ideally 60–80%; use a humidifier or mist regularly to maintain adequate moisture levels
  • Substrate: Well-draining orchid bark mix with good aeration; ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent root rot

Aliceara Tahoma Glacier is a showstopping hybrid that combines the best traits of its complex parentage — large, boldly marked flowers on graceful arching stems, with the potential for a delightful spicy scent. A rewarding intermediate-climate orchid from Ecuagenera, grown with care in Ecuador.
