Description

Description

A select and highly special variation of this magnificent species native to the tropical forests of South America, produced by selfing the choice 'Colibri' clone. This robust sympodial orchid features tall, reed-like pseudobulbs that produce upright, several-flowered inflorescences bearing substantial, highly fragrant blossoms with a remarkably distinct, heavily textured lip.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid harsh, direct afternoon sun to protect the foliage.
  • Temperature: 65–85°F (18–29°C); an intermediate to warm grower that thrives in stable, warm conditions.
  • Humidity: 60–80%; high ambient humidity supports vigorous pseudobulb development and healthy growth cycles.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the medium to approach dryness between waterings, ensuring sharp drainage so the roots never remain waterlogged.

Additional Notes

This variety produces large-sized, long-lasting flowers on mature, tall plants, making it a standout addition to any collection. It ships bare root and should be gently rehydrated at an intermediate temperature before being potted into a well-draining, coarse orchid mix upon arrival.
