Barbosella orbicularis Culture:

Successful cultivation of the charming miniature Barbosella orbicularis. Here are some important cultural tips to ensure its thriving growth:

  • Light: Barbosella orbicularis prefers low to bright indirect light. It's crucial to avoid direct sunlight, which can easily burn its delicate leaves.
  • Temperature: This adaptable orchid tolerates a wide range of temperatures, from cool to warm. It can grow in temperatures ranging from 10-29°C (50-84°F).
  • Humidity: Barbosella orbicularis thrives in high humidity, ideally between 70-80%. You can achieve this by using humidifiers, misting frequently, or growing it in a terrarium or enclosed environment.
  • Watering: Water regularly, keeping the substrate moist but not soggy. Allow the substrate to dry slightly between waterings. You can reduce watering slightly during the winter months.

Additional Notes:

  • It is a miniature epiphytic orchid, meaning it naturally grows on trees.
  • It is known for its small, round leaves and its charming, pale yellow and magenta flowers.
  • It is a mat-forming orchid, meaning it spreads horizontally.
  • It can be grown mounted on cork bark.
  • The flowers are not fragrant.

Arrived in great condition, mounted on cork. A good-sized specimen, covering 2/3 of its mount (1 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches). Leaves are tiny, less than 1/4 inch. Much new growth already, at 3 1/2 weeks. Growing in a terrarium with LED lighting at about 1700 fc. Keeping moist, with humidity between 65-85%, and air circulation provided by a mini fan.
