Description

Description

This is a miniature epiphytic orchid from the Pleurothallidinae subtribe, native to the cloud forests of Ecuador, particularly near Cuenca. It is a very small plant that produces minute, charming flowers, often continuously.

  • Light: Requires bright, filtered, or indirect light. It must be protected from direct sun to prevent leaf burn.
  • Temperature: Prefers cool to intermediate conditions. Ideal temperatures range between 54-75°F (12-24°C), with daytime temperatures in the intermediate range and a nightly drop.
  • Humidity: High humidity is essential, with ideal levels of 70-85% or higher, due to its cloud forest habitat. Constant moisture is crucial.
  • Watering: The medium must be kept uniformly moist, but with excellent drainage to prevent sogginess. Thorough watering or misting daily is recommended, especially if mounted.

Additional Notes

This species produces minute, delicate flowers on thin inflorescences that emerge from the base of the leaves. It is best grown in small pots with a very fine substrate or mounted on cork or moss, ideal for terrariums.
