Description

Description

A seldom-seen cool-growing species, Masd. hubeinii produces neat, tufted growth and blooms on slender upright stems with the characteristic triangular flower form of the genus — fused sepals tapering into slender elongated tails. This plant is offered in a larger-than-standard commercial size, providing a more established specimen with greater immediate impact.

  • Light: Low to moderate indirect light with 65–75% shade cloth; avoid any direct sun exposure, which quickly damages the delicate foliage.
  • Temperature: Cool grower. Daytime temperatures of 55–65°F (13–18°C) and nighttime lows of 46–54°F (8–12°C); sustained warmth above 70°F (21°C) is detrimental to long-term health.
  • Humidity: 75–90% relative humidity with constant gentle airflow; a humidifier or enclosed cool-growing environment is strongly recommended.
  • Watering: Keep the medium evenly and consistently moist at all times; water every 3–5 days and ensure excellent drainage to prevent root rot.

Additional Notes

It inhabits high-altitude cloud forests. Best cultivated mounted on cork bark or tree fern, or in small pots with fine bark or pure sphagnum moss to maintain the constant moisture this cool-growing species requires.
