Information

Description

Description

A graceful miniature species from the Andean cloud forests, producing arching, pendant racemes densely set with small flowers featuring free, elongated sepals with recurved tips. The cascading inflorescence is remarkably showy for the genus and makes this species a standout in any miniature collection.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can stress the narrow, grass-like leaves.
  • Temperature: 50–68°F (10–20°C); a cool to intermediate grower with a minimum tolerance around 45°F (7°C). Cool nights are beneficial for long-term health and blooming.
  • Humidity: 75–90%; maintain consistently high humidity with good air circulation to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Water frequently to keep the root zone evenly moist; avoid prolonged dry periods between waterings.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork or tree fern, or in a small basket with a fine, open mix (sphagnum or fine bark). Thrives under cool, humid conditions typical of high-altitude Andean cloud forests. Shipped bare root, well-established.
