Description

Phragmipedium Carlos Fighetti Culture:

This spectacular slipper orchid hybrid, is a cross between the magnificent Phragmipedium caudatum and the hybrid Phragmipedium Fritz Schomburg. The hybrid masterfully combines the extraordinarily long, graceful, and twisting petals of Phrag. caudatum with the influence of Phrag. Fritz Schomburg, which contributes its distinct form and coloration.

  • Light: Prefers moderate, indirect light. Avoid direct sun, especially during the midday hours, as this can easily scorch the leaves. A bright, east-facing window or a location with filtered light is often ideal for its native habitat.
  • Temperature: Thrives in intermediate temperatures, consistent with the conditions found in its native region. Ideal daytime temperatures should range between 18-24°C (65-75°F), with a slight drop at night to 13-18°C (55-65°F).
  • Humidity: Requires high humidity, ideally between 60-80%, which is often naturally occurring in its native habitat. Excellent air circulation is still essential to prevent fungal issues, especially in humid conditions.
  • Watering: This hybrid, like its parents, demands consistent moisture. The potting medium should never be allowed to dry out completely. Water thoroughly and frequently, making sure the pot has good drainage to avoid waterlogged roots. The frequency may need to be adjusted based on the local humidity levels.

Additional Notes

  • Floral Characteristics: The flowers of Phragmipedium Carlos Fighetti are famous for their dramatic form and unique coloration. The prominent pouch and dorsal sepal may display shades of greenish-brown, maroon, or reddish-pink, often with a striking network of veining. The overall appearance is powerful and captivating.
