Description

Description

This is a highly desirable climbing Aroid, closely related to Philodendron alatiundulatum. Its most striking feature is its winged and undulated (wavy) petioles (leaf stems), which often take on a red-ruffled appearance as the plant matures. It also features glossy, elongated, deep green leaves.

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. While it can tolerate medium light, growth will be slower. Avoid direct, harsh sun which can scorch the leaves.
  • Temperature: Thrives in average room temperatures, ideally a range of 68-77°F (20-25°C). Protect it from cold drafts and temperatures below 55°F (13°C).
  • Humidity: Requires moderate to high humidity, ideally 60% or higher, to prevent brown leaf tips and encourage vigorous growth. Consider using a humidifier or grouping it with other plants.
  • Watering: Water moderately when the top 1-2 inches (2-3 cm) of the soil feel dry to the touch. Use a light, well-draining aroid mix and ensure the pot has good drainage to prevent overwatering.

Additional Notes

The "cf." designation indicates this plant is compared to and closely resembles P. alatiundulatum, though its precise classification may still be under review. The plant is considered toxic if ingested, so keep it away from pets and small children.
