Description

Description

A distinctive epiphyte native to the cloud forests of Ecuador, producing slender spikes with medium-sized, star-shaped flowers of striking architectural form. The very elongated, linear-lanceolate sepals and petals curve sharply backward to hooked tips and bear bold, irregular basal spotting, while the trilobed lip features a bilobed frontal lobe with a gently undulate margin and a contrasting central callus flanked by a short, visible column.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–60% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can stress the slender pseudobulbs and foliage.
  • Temperature: 54–72°F (12–22°C); an intermediate to cool grower that benefits from a nighttime temperature drop to encourage spike initiation.
  • Humidity: 65–80%; consistent moisture supports healthy growth and reliable flowering.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the medium to approach dryness between waterings; never allow roots to sit in standing water.

Additional Notes

Best grown mounted on cork or in a fine bark mix with good drainage and airflow. Plants are shipped bare root, well established, and ready to adapt quickly to their new growing environment.
