Information

Description

Description

An epiphytic species from the forests of South America, producing solitary flowers with dramatically elongated, recurved sepals, broader reflexed lateral petals, and a very wide trilobed lip with large rounded lobes and an ornate central callus. Its bold asymmetric floral architecture makes it one of the most visually striking species in the genus.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 40–60% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can scorch the foliage.
  • Temperature: 58–78°F (14–26°C); thrives as an intermediate-warm grower with stable temperatures and a gentle nighttime drop to encourage blooming.
  • Humidity: 60–80%; consistent humidity supports vigorous pseudobulb development and prolific flowering.
  • Watering: Water thoroughly and allow the mix to approach dryness between waterings; avoid prolonged saturation at the roots.

Additional Notes

Best grown in a well-draining bark-based mix in a small pot or mounted on cork. Plants are shipped bare root, well established, and ready to adapt to your growing conditions.
