Description

Description

A charming Ecuadorian species producing flowers with elegant tubular structure and elongated sepals. Compact plants bloom successively, making this cool-growing species an appealing choice for collectors.

  • Light: Bright indirect light to partial shade. Protect from direct sunlight which can scorch leaves.
  • Temperature: Cool grower. Daytime 59-72°F (15-22°C), nighttime 50-59°F (10-15°C). Consistent cool temperatures are essential for healthy growth and flowering.
  • Humidity: 70-85% with excellent air circulation. Good air movement is critical to prevent fungal and bacterial issues.
  • Watering: Keep media consistently moist throughout the year. Water every 2-3 days depending on conditions, using pure water with low mineral content.

Additional Notes

Named after the French botanist Aimé Bonpland, this species is native to Ecuadorian cloud forests and requires consistent cool conditions. Best grown mounted on tree fern or cork bark, or in small pots with fine-grade bark mix or sphagnum moss.
