Description

Description

A stunning Ecuadorian species that produces distinctive flowers with elongated sepals and elegant tubular form. The compact growth habit and successive blooming make this species a prized addition to cool-growing Masdevallia collections.

  • Light: Bright indirect light to partial shade. Protect from direct sunlight which can scorch leaves.
  • Temperature: Cool grower. Daytime 59-72°F (15-22°C), nighttime 50-59°F (10-15°C). Consistent cool temperatures are essential for healthy growth and flowering.
  • Humidity: 70-85% with excellent air circulation. Good air movement is critical to prevent fungal and bacterial issues.
  • Watering: Keep media consistently moist throughout the year. Water every 2-3 days depending on conditions, using pure water with low mineral content.

Additional Notes

This species thrives in cool, humid conditions typical of its natural habitat. Best grown mounted on tree fern or cork bark to allow roots to dry quickly between waterings, or in small pots with fine-grade bark mix or sphagnum moss.
