Lycida Ingrid de Portilla

A hybrid of Lyc. × michelii × Lyc. Cassiopeia, featuring substantial flowers with broad, spreading sepals and softly cupped petals. A textured, ruffled lip adds depth to each bloom, while strongly pleated foliage and clustered pseudobulbs give the plant a bold, architectural presence.

• Light: Bright filtered light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid harsh midday sun, which can scorch the broad, pleated leaves.
• Temperature: 55–79°F (13–26°C), an intermediate grower that benefits from cooler nights; avoid prolonged heat and protect from frost.
• Humidity: 60–80% with steady, gentle air circulation; provide ventilation around new growths to prevent moisture from collecting between the leaves.
• Watering: Water thoroughly during active growth, allowing the mix to approach dryness without drying out completely. Reduce watering when growth slows, and keep water out of unfolding shoots.

Additional Notes

Use a moisture-retentive but airy mix of fine to medium bark, sphagnum moss, and perlite in a well-drained pot, keeping new growths above the substrate. Shipped bare root, well-established; pot promptly on arrival and maintain sheltered, humid conditions while roots re-establish.
