Information

Description

Description

A creeping miniature epiphyte native to the cloud forests of Central America, forming dense clusters of small, dark glossy ovate leaves on branches or cork. Flowers are borne directly on the leaf rachis and feature an erect acuminate dorsal sepal, divergent lateral sepals with filiform tails, and distinctively elongated bilobed petals that resemble the legs of a crane fly — the trait that inspired the species name.

  • Light: Bright indirect light with 50–70% shade cloth; avoid direct sun, which can scorch the compact foliage.
  • Temperature: 52–72°F (11–22°C); an intermediate-cool grower that benefits from mild temperature drops at night and consistent air movement.
  • Humidity: 75–90%; maintain high humidity with strong airflow to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Keep evenly moist at all times; water frequently in small amounts and never allow the roots to dry out completely.

Additional Notes

Best mounted on cork or tree fern with a sphagnum moss base, which suits its creeping habit. Ships bare root, well-established.
