Description

Description

This epiphytic orchid, is recognized for its graceful, arching growth habit and pendulous floral displays. It produces elongated, bifoliate pseudobulbs that give rise to dense, hanging racemes carrying numerous small, fragrant yellow-green flowers with a distinctive recurved lip.

  • Light: Bright, filtered light. Protect from direct midday sun to prevent scorching, but maintain high luminosity to ensure the development of robust flower spikes.
  • Temperature: 50-80°F (10-27°C). Adaptable to cool or intermediate conditions; a significant drop in night temperatures during the autumn is beneficial for triggering the flowering cycle.
  • Humidity: Constant levels between 60-80%. Requires high ambient moisture and excellent air circulation to mirror its humid forest habitat and prevent stagnant air around the pseudobulbs.
  • Watering: Regular and thorough during the growing season, allowing the substrate to dry slightly between applications. Reduce frequency during the winter, but never allow the medium to become bone-dry for extended periods.

Additional notes

This species is particularly well-suited for basket culture or mounting on plaques to accommodate its pendulous inflorescences. Always use aged water or rainwater to prevent the accumulation of salts and minerals.
